The 2019/20 season is the Philharmonia Orchestra’s 23rd as Resident Orchestra at De Montfort Hall in Leicester.
Over two decades the Philharmonia has made a second home in Leicester and we continue to bring the best of our work to the city. Across eight concerts in 2019/20 the Orchestra performs an expansive range of repertoire, featuring Elim Chan conducting Tchaikovsky’s Little Russian symphony, a family concert celebrating all things Tokyo 2020, and our new Principal Conductor Designate, Santtu-Matias Rouvali, conducting Sibelius’s Fifth symphony.
As well as exciting classical concerts, we also have three Insight Talks this season, providing the chance to hear artists in conversation, including Elim Chan, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Gergely Madaras. We are also thrilled to bring our Hear and Now project to Leicester, which is our intergenerational creative music-making community project, bringing people living with dementia and their carers with young musicians.
We remain ever grateful to Leicester City Council and the many supporters – especially our new Principal Partner, De Montfort University – who continue to make possible the work the Philharmonia brings to De Montfort Hall and the city’s wider communities.
