Sciarrino Three pieces from Sei Capricci for solo violin
Cattaneo Violin concertoUK premiere
An evening celebrating the 65th birthday of Irvine Arditti, an incomparable pioneer of contemporary music who has stretched the boundaries of the violin and premiered works by hundreds of composers throughout his career. This concert will feature Arditti in an all-Italian context, including the UK premiere of a scintillating Violin Concerto by Aureliano Cattaneo, a composer with a "feel for dramatic pace, fine aesthetic sensibilities and plenty to say" (Financial Times). Rounding off the programme is Salvatore Sciarrino’s Sei Capricci, a modern counterpart to Paganini’s devilishly difficult études.
