Vaughan Williams: The Pioneering Pilgrim

Welcome to the mini website which is part of the Philharmonia Orchestra's series commemorating the 50th anniversary of Vaughan Williams' death. Under artistic advisor Michael Kennedy and conductor Richard Hickox the series includes choral works, opera and a complete symphony cycle.

The website allows you to find out more about the music, through articles, films and online resources.  The site will be evolving over the series, so do visit again soon.

"The image, current when I began my career, of Vaughan Williams as a conventional English pastoral composer, is swept aside by music that is full of passion yet combined with a fervent spiritual quality."  Richard Hickox
