Successful applicants will be invited to an audition consisting of a solo, 4.3 octaves A to C, Marimba piece of your own choice (without pianist) plus orchestral excerpts (with pianist) and a sight reading opportunity.
The orchestral excerpts and a piano accompanist will be provided by the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Auditions Monday 30, Tuesday 31 March and Thursday 2 April 2015.
Successful applicants will be invited to an audition consisting of:
A first round for which we would like you to prepare the entire FIRST movement (only) of either the Hoffmeister or Stamitz concertos – of your choice - including cadenza. Plus you will be asked to play some of the orchestral excerpts of the panel’s choice.

You may then be asked for a second round, later the same day, in which case we would like you to perform the first movement of either of the Bartok, Walton or Hindemith Der Schwanendreher viola concertos, chosen by you plus some further orchestral excerpts.
The orchestral excerpts will be provided by the Philharmonia in advance of your audition.

Administration Vacancies

IT MANAGER

The Philharmonia Orchestra is seeking a full-time employee to manage the company’s IT systems. The role involves providing day to day assistance to staff, as well as managing and developing systems.  Candidates should have experience of first-line support – possibly as an experienced helpdesk operator, manager, or support technician – ideally with an MCSE certification; however, we will consider recent IT graduates with proven technical experience in a professional organisation. The postholder will be expected to manage the company’s IT systems on a day-to-day basis, reporting to the Digital Director.

Salary range: £25,000 - £27,000 per annum, according to experience.

Traineeships Currently Available

Marketing Department Trainee

The Philharmonia Marketing Department is offering the opportunity for a trainee to join their busy team to gain experience in a wide range of marketing activities across their concerts in London and residencies throughout the UK. The successful candidate will be able to think creatively as well as possess impeccable organisational skills, the ability to work to tight deadlines and an enthusiasm for promoting classical music to audiences all over the UK. 

Hours: 9.30am - 5.30pm, 5 days per week, with additional evenings and weekends as required. Placements are voluntary and unpaid, although travel expenses (maximum equivalent of monthly travelcard, London zones 1 - 6, per month, during each Trainee placement) and a lunch allowance are available. The traineeship is for 6 months and will run from January 2015 until June 2015.

Concerts Department Trainee

The Philharmonia Orchestra is offering a traineeship within its busy Concerts Department. This traineeship offers a unique opportunity to experience the workings of one of the world’s busiest orchestras, specifically assisting the Concerts and Tours Assistant with the Orchestra’s busy touring schedule and working alongside the Manager of the London Season to assist with the Orchestra’s flagship concert series at the Royal Festival Hall. This is a full time position and it will suit a person who has a passion for classical music, a keen eye for detail and the ability to think on their feet.
