Tips and Tricks

John Jenkins offers tips and tricks on tuba writing from a player's perspective. Breath control is a problem in the low register because you are using so much air. So if a composer writes long phrases for the tuba at the bottom of the instrument, the player is not going to be able to perform what the composer wants without breaking the phrase up all the time in order to breathe. But in the middle to high register there is no problem.
