From August 26 to September 1 I was inspired by the location of the installation, a place when thousands of people walk pass everyday. In essence, it reflects the hectic busy city life. There is a clear pattern (busy period where people come/go to work and come/go home, people commuting for concerts...), but with slight variations (because it's never the same people). The aspect that interested me most was the fact that I knew different seats will be occupied at all time, and I was interested in creating a piece that changes throughout the duration of the piece. The section I have written (4 minutes long), for me is not the complete piece - in fact, if played according to the score by a full orchestra all time, it would be too much. The complete piece is the result during whole duration of the installation. There are many layers throughout the piece, and I would encourage people to explore the individual lines within the larger structure. |
