On
March 24th at the BT Centre in central London David Watkin,
Principal Cello with the Philharmonia Orchestra, and the Artea Quartet
worked on one of Beethoven's great string quartets written towards
the end of his life, Quartet No 15 Op132.
Filmed with a live audience this is a wonderful opportunity to see
and hear how musicians of the highest level study this music and
develop their interpretation.

In
this extract from the Masterclass David Watkin introduces
the piece and the Artea Quartet perform the 1st Movement.
(Further extracts will come online shortly.)
Note
to users:
If you read music, you can learn a lot from
the masterclass by following the score. David Watkin refers
to bar numbers or the names of sections throughout the class
making it relatively easy to follow, but it's perhaps best
to print it out before you start!
You
can see the Artea Quartet performing the music from this Masterclass
session in the Chamber
Music Concert.
