Since 2008, the Philharmonia Orchestra, in partnership and with the support of Orchestras Live, has brought together Fusion Youth Singing and the Tibbs Dementia Foundation’s 'Music 4 Memory' group for a series of creative music workshops. Exploring improvisation and developing leadership skills, the groups have collaborated to produce original music, working alongside Philharmonia musicians, and presented an annual performance. Following on from the success of previous years, the project has grown in scope and musical ambition in 2013, where a community chorus and orchestra will join Fusion and Music 4 Memory to learn a new, large-scale, original piece of music commissioned by project leader Tim Steiner, culminating in a showcase concert involving over 250 participants on 21 July 2013 at the Bedford Corn Exchange.
