The project came about through an evolving partnership between the Philharmonia, Orchestras Live, Fusion Youth Singing and the Alzheimer’s Society. We would like to thank all our partners for making this project possible, especially Orchestras Live for bringing the groups together and supporting the project.
Fusion Youth Singing is one of the projects under the umbrella of ‘Faith in Queen’s Park’ based at All Saints’ Church, Bedford. Faith in Queens Park aims to reach out into the local community working with other faiths to celebrate diversity and develop trust and mutual understanding. Fusion provides quality musical experiences for young people living in the Queen's Park area and beyond.
Recognising the importance of music as a common bond Fusion inspires young people to participate on many levels encouraging and supporting emerging creative talent, helping to develop confidence and self belief whilst nurturing friendships and a sense of community.
Music for the Memory aims to provide a supportive environment where carers and people living with dementia can develop and utilise their creative talents and find new ways of expressing and communicating with others through the musical medium. Music for the Memory is grateful for the support and current funding by the Bedford Charity.
The project is one of the services provided by the North and Mid Beds Branch of the Alzheimer's Society. The ethos of the branch is to support and encourage carers and people living with dementia to continue to lead fulfilling and creative lives, to remain as independent as possible, to be listened to and supported to make their own choices.
