About Us


Sharing Teaching Resources

If you are a music teacher and would like to share any teaching resources through The Sound Exchange, we will be very happy to receive them. They can be for any musical level, young or old and on any musical topic, as general or as specific as you like and all genres of music are welcome. Please read on to find out how to share your resources:

Types of Resource
You can share: information handouts, worksheets, quizzes, tests, games, fact-sheets, revision aids, technique guides, schemes of work, programmes of study, lesson plans, articles on music pedagogy and any other type of resource for the learning and teaching of music.

Formats Accepted
Microsoft Word & Powerpoint
Image Files - eg diagrams & illustrations
PDF - Portable Document Format
HTML web page
Macromedia Flash
Audio and Video (never by email!)

Accompanying Material
Resources should be accompanied by the kind of information that will be helpful to other teachers:

  • age/ability level of resource
  • syllabus (if any) the resource relates to and reference points
  • cross curricular links
  • differentiation
  • assessment opportunities
  • hints for progression

You should also send us your name, contact details, school contact details, email and web addresses.

Destination of Resources
We will soon be creating a Music Teaching Resources section, but resources may also be shared amongst other sections of The Sound Exchange.

How to Submit Resources
1 Unfortunately, because email attachments can carry viruses we can only accept resources by email from someone we have already had contact with. If we are uncertain who you are, the email will be deleted unopened.
So, to begin with, please post your resources on a CD or floppy disk to:
