Composition Award

The Martin Musical Scholarship Fund Composition Award took place in 2003 and 2004. In keeping with the objectives of the Philharmonia Orchestra/MMSF scheme, it was stipulated that the award should be used by the winning composer to bridge the period between study and life as a professional composer.

The works were considered by a panel assembled by the Philharmonia Orchestra, and the three considered most worthy were performed by winners of the MMSF Ensemble Award: the Fidelio Piano Quartet in 2003 and the Zephyr Ensemble of London in 2004.

The works were performed at a pre-concert recital and the winner announced during the interval of the main evening concert.
