The Friends of the Philharmonia play a vital role in the life of the Orchestra. By supporting the Friends, you are supporting the Orchestra’s important work in education, digital projects, and world-class music-making.

The Friends of the Philharmonia was founded in 1982 to create a members club for the valued, loyal patrons of the Philharmonia Orchestra. Throughout the last 25 years the Friends scheme has expanded to over 2,000 members and offers an exclusive set of benefits to those who join, giving unique insight into the inner workings of one of the world’s great orchestras.  Our Friends get to know the members of the Philharmonia Orchestra from a truly different perspective.

Friend Benefits

Friends of the Philharmonia Orchestra receive many benefits of membership including priority booking, access to open rehearsals, regular Orchestra updates, and bespoke special events.

Above all the greatest benefit our members receive is the knowledge that their contributions, however large or small, are perpetuating the great tradition of the Philharmonia Orchestra as a musical icon in Britain and throughout the world. By enabling valuable work in education, recording, regional and international tours, as well as exciting musical programmes, the Friends of the Philharmonia have helped push the Philharmonia to the forefront of the artistic world.

For an annual contribution of £50*, the London Friends of the Philharmonia receive:

• Access to Open Rehearsals
• Orchestra updates and Fanfare Magazine
• Invitations to bespoke special events
• 2 weeks’ priority booking for all concerts at Royal Festival Hall
• Access to Members’ Bar

Rehearsal Friend

For our Friends who don’t feel they are able to fully take advantage of the above Friends benefits, we also have Rehearsal Friend membership at £35* per year which offers all the above membership benefits with one alteration: priority booking for our Rehearsal Friends applies only to matinee and weekend concerts at Royal Festival Hall. 

Principal Friend

Ideal for members who are interested in supporting the Orchestra at a higher level. Additional benefits include programme crediting in all Royal Festivla Hall concert programmes, priority booking for special events, an invitation to the Principal Friends Sponsored Concert, complimentary tickets and DVD year book (£250 and £500 levels only) as well as a Philharmonia Orchestra recording (£500 level only).
