Schubert's Impromptus are a series of piano miniatures, playful and intensely romantic by turn, and close in temperament to the piano music of Chopin, Schumann and Liszt. They are notable for their song-like quality: Schubert wrote to his father: "people assured me that the keys became singing voices under my hands". These performances were recorded as part of all-Schubert concerts with András Schiff in 2007.
