What?

Orchestra Unwrapped is a series of live orchestral concerts by the Philharmonia Orchestra which began in Leicester in 2011. Specially tailored for KS2 children, the concerts present a varied programme which is presented by music education specialist Paul Rissmann. The concerts are designed to introduce the orchestra, its instruments and repertoire in a dynamic, fun and accessible way. In 2012/13, each of the Orchestra Unwrapped concerts focusses on presenting orchestral music to more specific age groups within KS2.

Teacher INSET sessions precede each concert, offering an opportunity for staff to work directly with Paul. Teachers will receive guidance on how to maximise the concert experience by learning exercises that will help them prepare their classes for the concert visit, and follow it up in school. INSET sessions are suitable for music specialists and teachers who have no prior musical background.

A resource pack, listening guide, and audience participation practice CD accompanies each concert. These will be available online after the INSET for each concert.
