Why Support Orchestra Unwrapped?
Leicester City is ranked as the 20th most deprived local authority in the country, some areas within the City falling within the most deprived 5% in England. Many children in Leicester simply do not have the chance to hear live music, enjoy local arts and cultural activities, or participate in music education, either at school or at home, and this is an area in need of improvement. Orchestra Unwrapped will fulfil this need.
The Philharmonia Orchestra is a registered charity and its De Montfort Hall residency is supported via Arts Council England funds and Leicester City Council. BUT Orchestra Unwrapped is reliant on private investment and receives no government subsidy. In order for us to deliver the project over the next four years further funding is required.
