What is Orchestra Unwrapped?
Orchestra Unwrapped is a major education initiative offering thousands of children the opportunity to experience live music in an engaging and exciting way. Orchestra Unwrapped aims to offer access to live orchestral music and the educational resources to understand it.
Key features:
-
Live education concerts featuring a full symphony orchestra introduced by an education specialist, who will guide the children on a fun and interactive journey through the Orchestra's instruments, players and music.
-
Learning resources for children and teachers, for use in both the classroom and at home. These will be available online for use by children all over the world too!
-
INSET teacher training, equipping teachers with the skills to maximise the concert experience for their pupils, enhancing appreciation of music, as well as personal creativity, expression, confidence and group work.
- Wonderful, inspiring music played by one of the world's greatest orchestras. Orchestra Unwrapped will reach into every corner of the community, giving every child the opportunity to enjoy and learn about music locally, whatever their background!
As well as this, the project has been designed to support and enhance the National Curriculum for Key Stage 2 Music, encouraging children to develop a general knowledge and appreciation of music, as well as personal creativity, expression, confidence, and group work.
Allowing for ongoing development, specially devised INSET teaching training sessions will provide teachers with examples, exercises, and activities that they can use in the classroom pre- and post-concert. These will also be supported by online resources that can be used and explored in whole-class teaching.
