Hye-Youn Lee SOPRANO

Selected by The Independent on Sunday as “The Face to Watch” in Classical Music 2013, the soprano Hye-Youn Lee was born in South Korea and now lives in London. She was a member of both Les Jeunes Voix du Rhin at the Opéra national du Rhin, Strasbourg, and of L’Atelier Lyrique at the Opéra national de Paris.

She made a triumphant London debut as Marie / La Fille du Regiment for Korn / Ferry Opera Holland Park in 2008, returning in 2009 as Musetta / La bohème.

Other engagements have included Lucia / Lucia di Lammermoor, Oscar / Un ballo in maschera and First Flowermaiden / Parsifal at the Opéra national de Rhin, Silvia / L’isola disabitata at the Opera Basse Normandie, Caen, and First Esquire / Parsifal at the Opéra national de Paris.

During 2010 / 2011 sang Cio-Cio-San / Madama Butterfly for Grange Park Opera ‘Rising Stars’ and Lisette / La rondine for Opera Holland Park, for which role she was awarded Best Female in a Supporting Role in the Opera Holland Park Audience Awards.

During 2011 / 2012, she made her debut at the Finnish National Opera as Lisette La rondine and sang an acclaimed Elettra / Idomeneo for Grange Park Opera. She recently returned to Grange Park as Blanche / Dialogues des Carmelites and for an Opera Gala with Joseph Calleja. Her future engagements further include Donna Anna / Don Giovanni for Bergen National Opera and Cio-Cio-San / Madama Butterfly for Scottish Opera.
