Cheremie was born and brought up in the south of England starting her musical career after a birthday gift of a recorder whilst still at infant school. Her grandfather handed down his beloved violin when she was aged seven and after a brief daliance on the flute her path was set. Inspired by her violin teacher she joined the local string orchestra which from the first rehearsal fired a passion for orchestral playing which remains to this day.

At the age of 14 she was persuaded to give the viola a go because the orchestra was so short of players, but she took a great deal of convincing that it should take over from the violin. After a lesson with David Takeno and on his recommendation finally she made the move and after two years entered The Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she continued to study with him until graduating in 1992.

From the GSMD she went to Ireland as the Co-Principal Viola in the RTE National Symphony Orchestra, six years later she moved on to BBC National Orchestra of Wales, also as Co-Principal Viola. Cheremie moved to London in 2000 working as a freelance player whilst juggling her career with family life; she has two children. In 2009 she became a full member of the viola section of the Philharmonia Orchestra.
