Susan Hedger was born in London and started playing the violin aged eight. She studied with Felix Andrievsky for seven years including four at the Royal College of Music and later privately with Grigori Zhislin. She joined the Philharmonia Orchestra on leaving college as an associate member and has been a full member since 1992.
