Maria Zachariadou CELLO

Maria Zachariadou was born in Stockholm of Greek parents, and is currently based in London and a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra’s cello section.

She has also played with the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Folkwang Kammerorkester, National Orchestre de Belgique, Svenska Kammarorkestern, both the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) the European union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO) and the London Symphony Orchestra. Her mentors have included Melissa Phelps at the Royal College of Music in London (Postgraduate), Johannes Goritzki and Nikolaus Trieb at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf (Konzertexamen with Distinction), David Strange at the Royal Academy of Music in London and Mats Rondin at the Kungliga Musikhögskolan in Stockholm for her Undergraduate studies.

Masterclasses have included together with Ralph Kirschbaum, Frans Helmersson, David Geringas, Ola Karlsson Truls Mørk and festivals have amongst others included Mendelssohn on Mull, Paxos Music Festival, Holland Music Sessions, London Masterclasses, a full residency at the Banff center of Arts and a semester at the University of Bloomington in the US. Maria also toured Japan with her baroque group La Sfera Musicale twice to critical acclaim and released the CD "Baroque Dialogues" on Waon Records.

Maria is playing on a F. Ravatin cello kindly loaned from the Järnåker Foundation in Sweden.
