Orchestral Experience

Many Philharmonia players are professors at some of the UK’s leading conservatoires, and the Orchestra works to utilize their experience and expertise in guiding aspiring orchestral players into the profession.

Sit-in schemes allow wind, brass and percussion students to sit within the relevant section and observe players at close quarters, sometimes having a chance to play.

The Meyer Orchestral Awards provide a chance for exceptional string players to gain direct work experience with the Philharmonia.  The current recipients of the award are cellists Lauren Steel and Jane Lindsay.  The Philharmonia is working on developing the award programme and will release further details in due course.

The Philharmonia is very grateful to Mr Vincent Meyer and the Meyer Foundation for its support of the Orchestral Awards.
