Juraj Valcuha was Assistant Conductor of the Orchestre et Opéra National de Montpellier from 2003 to 2005. Contemporaneously he made his début with the Orchestre National de France (with whom he recorded Alaleona´s opera Mirra) and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France.
In 2006 and 2007 he led the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Orchestre National de France with the double-bill Debussy La Chute de la Maison Usher and Chapochnikov Le Jardin Empoisonné. He conducted La Bohème at the Teatro Comunale Bologna as well as Bartók’s Bluebeard and Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine at the Opéra de Lyon.
In the 2007/08 season he conducted the Rotterdam Philharmonic, RAI Orchestra in Turin, Philharmonia Orchestra, DSO Berlin and the Oslo Philharmonic. He made his US début with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as well as with the Munich Philharmonic.
In 2008/09 he had his début with the Gewandhaus Leipzig, recorded a tribute to Pfitzner and R Strauss for ARTE, led the RAI Orchestra Torino, the Swedish Radio Orchestra and a tribute to Toscanini with the Filarmonica Toscanini in Parma. He will have his début with the Bavarian State Opera Munich and the Deutsche Oper Berlin (both with Butterfly). He will conduct the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice in Venice and then in the first Abu Dhabi Classics season with an Opera Gala. During the summer he will make his début with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
In 2009/10 he will open the season of the Munich Philharmonic, will conduct the Staatskapelle Dresden and the Philharmonia as well as the Pittsburgh Symphony and the National Symphony Orchestra Washington.
