Ivor Setterfield

Ivor Setterfield has directed Barts Choir since 1996.   His is also Music Director of Trafalgar Sinfonia and New London Singers.

He has work with a number of leading orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia, the London Mozart Players, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hanover Band and the City of London Sinfonia.  He regularly performs at all major London concert halls including the Royal Albert Hall and the Southbank Centre and has conducted at venues across Europe including Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Sweden, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Spain and extensively throughout Italy and France.

Ivor has made several recordings including Rachmaninov Vespers, Frank Martin Mass for double choir, Fauré & Duruflé Requiems, ‘Vivaldi Gloria’ and a disc of English String Serenades, which includes Vaughan Williams Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis. 

In 2006 he appeared in his own TV documentary series on Channel Five, The Singing Estate, which was nominated for the prestigious Rose d’Or award.  In 2008 he appeared in the BBC 2 TV programme Maestro as mentor to Drum & Bass DJ Goldie and in 2009 they team up again when Goldie was commissioned to compose a piece for the Proms.  The composing journey was filmed for a 2-part programme on BBC 2.  For further details see Ivor’s website at www.ivorsetterfield.com.
