His operatic career has included his critically acclaimed West End début with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company at The Savoy Theatre as Fairfax (The Yeomen of the Guard), and principal tenor with Carl Rosa (touring the US, Canada and UK), Opera Holland Park, Raymond Gubbay, Armonico Consort, G&S Opera Company, Opera Della Luna, British Youth Opera and Phoenix Opera. His roles include the title role in Offenbach’s Robinson Crusoe, Basilio and Don Curzio (Le nozze di Figaro), Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte), Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Pluto and Mercury (Orpheus in the Underworld) and tenor lead in 12 of the Savoy Operas.
His varied concerts include: appearances with Tortelier, Hickox and Hill in Jerusalem, Singapore, Lillehammer, Dublin (The Helix, National Concert Hall and St Patrick’s) and all the major UK concert halls; Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins with Cleo Laine; touring as a soloist with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra; and performances at the BBC Proms and the St Endellion, Bath International, Woburn, Chester, Iford, Royal Deeside and Buxton International G&S festivals.
He has broadcast for In Tune on BBC Radio 3 and for Classic FM; and recorded for Chandos. He also sang on the DVD recording of A Motley Pair (a five-part exploration of the life, lyrics and music of Gilbert and Sullivan) for Capriol Films, which was televised on Sky Arts in 2010.
Recent and forthcoming engagements include the Bach Evangelists, Berlioz’s L’enfance du Christ, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Britten’s St Nicolas, Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle, Finzi’s For St Cecilia, Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius, Verdi Requiem and the Raymond Gubbay Mikado, Pirates of Penzance and HMS Pinafore.
