She made her London début in 1995 at St John’s Smith Square aged just seventeen and went on to début at both the Barbican and the Queen Elizabeth Hall a year later. In 1998 Min-Jin Kym made her Wigmore Hall début, appearing a year later with the Philharmonia under Vladimir Ashkenazy. The same year she was awarded the ‘Most Promising Artist of the 21st Century’ Award in Korea. Min-Jin Kym was the first ever recipient of the prestigious Heifetz Prize as awarded by the Jascha Heifetz Society in Los Angeles. This honour was bestowed upon her in 2005.
Min-Jin Kym has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras including the Philharmonia, London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic orchestras and the Dresden Staatskapelle and has worked with eminent conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Andrew Davis and Giuseppe Sinopoli. She has also performed regularly at international festivals, in concerto and recital with her duo partner Ian Brown and recently toured in South Africa. Min-Jin Kym appears regularly at Wigmore Hall and at prestigious festivals throughout the UK and the Far East. Current plans include a tour to Israel, several UK concerts with the Philharmonia including in January 2010 under Vladimir Ashkenazy and a tour in 2010/11 to China and Korea.
Her first CD of Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole with the London Symphony Orchestra under Barry Wordsworth was released in 2001 to critical acclaim with Gramophone commenting “…Her playing is deeply felt”. Her début recording for Sony Music on RCA Red Seal of Beethoven's Violin Concerto with Sir Andrew Davis and the Philharmonia Orchestra coupled with Beethoven’s Violin Sonata in C minor with duo partner Ian Brown was released in Autumn 2007 about which BBC Music Magazine commented: “sweet tone and firm rhythm”.
