During his time there, Mikhail often performed as soloist at the Great and Small Philharmonic halls and other main venues. His most significant performances were the Beethoven Triple concerto (with Vassily Petrenko)and Brahms Double concerto at the Beloselskich-Belozerskich palace (Hall of Mirrors).

Mikhail has won prizes in several competitions, including the 3rd Mravinsky International Contest in St. Petersburg in 2002, All Russian national competition in 2004. In 2004, Mikhail received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture of Russia (2004). Musicians Benevolent Fund String Awards (2005, 2006 & 2007) and Pierre Fournier Educational Awards (2006 & 2007). In 2008 Mikhail was named the recipient of the Guilhermina Suggia Gift for cello and in 2009 he recieved a prestigious Muriel Taylor Scholarship. Also in 2009 Mikhail was one of the Hattori Music Foundation Senior Award winners and won the Silver Medal in Rostropovich Memorial International VTB cello Contest. In 2010 Mikhail took part in the semifinals of Rostropovitch International Cello Competition in Paris and won the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship.

Since 2003 Mikhail has performed in Germany, Hungary and Norway. He has attended various International Festivals and summer music schools, and also played in Master Classes for Thomas Demenga, Truls Svane, Helmut Zehetmeier, Oleg Kogan, Bjorn Solumn, Mikhail Kopelman and , Ralph Kirshbaum, Karine Georgian, Christopher Rowland, Gordon Back and The Vermeer Quartet amongst others.

From 2005 to 2007 Mikhail studied at Chetham's School of Music with Nicholas Jones and in September 2007 he commenced his undergraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music with Hannah Roberts.

In autumn 2007 Mikhail was invited to become a student at the Razumovsky Academy in London. Since then he performed in several Razumovsky Young Artists’ concerts at the Wigmore Hall and in December 2008 he took part in the Razumovsky Ensemble and Academy live broadcast-interview on BBC Radio 3 "In Tune". As a representative of English Speaking Union Mikhail performed in Maurice Ravel Academy in septemberr 2009 where he won Maurice Ravel Grand Prix and subsequently was invited to give number of concerts in Biarrirtz, France in April 2010. In december 2009 Mikhail had a Young Artist Recital in Wigmore Hall and in spring 2010 he performed as a soloist with European Union Chamber Orchestra in Birmingham within Bromsgrove Young Artist Platform 30th Anniversary.
