In opera he has appeared with Welsh National Opera, English National Opera, Scottish Opera, the Paris Opera, the Royal Opera, the Deutsche Staatsoper, Berlin, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Cologne Opera and San Francisco Opera. In concert he appears regularly with the major British Festivals and Orchestras with conductors including Leonard Slatkin, Sir Colin Davis, Donald Runnicles, Sir Roger Norrington, Christopher Hogwood, Sir Charles Mackerras, Sir Mark Elder, Sakari Oramo, Sir Simon Rattle and Thomas Hengelbrock, and with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Bayerisches Rundfunk, the Sudwestrundfunk, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestras and the Orchestra of the Bavarian State Opera. Most recently he has sung Le Roi (Massenet’s Le Cid) in Valencia (with Domingo) and Paolo Orsini (Rienzi) at the Teatro Real, Madrid (under Mehta). In 2009 he began a major association with the Graz Opera, singing his first Hans Sachs in a new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and returning for Barak (Die Frau ohne Schatten), Germont (La Traviata), Iago (Otello) and Orestes (Elektra). He made his debut at the 2010 Bayreuth Festival as Hans Sachs, returning for the same role in 2011. Concert engagements include Adams Nixon in China (BBC Proms, Berlin Festival) and Der Fliegende Holländer with the CBSO and Andris Nelsons. In opera he sings Jochanaan (Salome) in Vienna, Hans Sachs in Hamburg, Vienna and Budapest, Mandryka (Arabella) in Amsterdam and Hamburg, Kurwenal (Tristan und Isolde) in Washington and Falstaff in Graz.
