Harry Gilfillan

Harry Gilfillan (15 yrs old) grew up in South Africa until the age of 5. He started playing the cello at the age of seven in Somerset with Robyn Austen. He gained a place at the Yehudi Menuhin School a year later at the age of 8. Harry subsequently left the Menuhin school to study with Alexander Boyarsky at the Royal College of Music. Harry is currently studying with Phillipe Muller from the Paris Conservatoire. He has benefted from masterclasses with Hannah Roberts, Frans Helmerson, Alban Gerhardt and Jean Guihen Queyras. Harry also studies musicianship and piano with Emily Jeffrey.

Harry has played as a soloist with orchestras in Germany, Indonesia, South Africa and the UK. He's also been invited to play in Moscow, Italy, France and in numerous recitals around the UK.

Harry attends Sevenoaks School in Kent and has a wide range of interests including science, politics and History. He's also a keen sportsman specialising in tennis and golf. Harry has three sisters all of whom are musicians and have attended the Menuhin school.
