Operatic appearances include Donna Elvira Don Giovanni and the title roles in Kat’á Kabanová, Jenufa and Rusalka (Opera North), Salome in Massenet’s Hérodiade (Anna Livia International Opera Festival, Dublin), concert performances of Vitellia La Clemenza di Tito (Malaga), Musetta La Bohème (La Monnaie/Pappano; English National Opera), Ellen Orford Peter Grimes (Komische Oper, Berlin; Opera North), Gerhilde Die Walküre (ENO) and Marie Wozzeck, Tatyana Eugene Onegin and Helena A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Canadian Opera Company, Toronto), Jenufa for Glyndebourne on Tour, the title role Tosca at Northern Ireland Opera, Freia Das Rheingold at Opera North, Miss Jessel Turn of the Screw for Opera North and the Glyndebourne Festival and Martha The Passenger for English National Opera.
On the concert platform Giselle Allen has worked with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Gennadi Rozhdestvensky, Sir David Willcocks and Marin Alsop. Appearances have included Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 (CBSO), Dvorak’s Te Deum (RLPO), Janacek’s Glagolitic Mass (Norfolk and Norwich Festival, and most recently with the Hallé Orchestra, conducted by Sir Mark Elder), Donna Eleonora in Salieri’s Prima la Musica poi le Parole and Jenny Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny (Edinburgh International Festival). In demand also as a recitalist, she has appeared for BBC Belfast, the Castleward Opera Series, and at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.
