Francisco Javier Borda recently made his début for English National Opera in the roles of Tempo and Antinoo The Return of Ulysses, followed by his début with William Christie and Les Arts Florissants singing four roles in La Didone by Cavalli at the Theatre de Caen and the Grand Theatre de Luxembourg. Other recent engagements include Angelotti Tosca and Lodovico Otello for Dorset Opera, Zuniga Carmen for Scottish Opera on tour and The Cook Love for Three Oranges and Tiferne Eliogabalo(Cavalli), the latter under Christian Curnyn, both for Grange Park Opera.

Other roles Francisco Javier Borda has performed include Figaro Le nozze di Figaro, Leporello and Masetto Don Giovanni, Don Inigo Gomez L’heure Espagnole, Collatinus The Rape of Lucretia, and Angelotti Tosca. His operatic repertoire also includes Sarastro Die Zauberflöte, Osmin Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Basilio Il barbiere di Siviglia, Monterone and Sparafucile Rigoletto, Seneca L’incoronazione di Poppea and Gremin Eugene Onegin.

Francisco Javier Borda has sung concerts at the Aula Universität in Salzburg with the Salzburger Kammerphilharmonie and the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City with the New World Orchestra (Messiah and Creation).

His forthcoming engagements include the role of Second Priest in Il Prigioniero (Dallapicolla) with the Philharmonia Orchestra under Esa-Pekka Salonen at the Royal Festival Hall and further performances of La Didone at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris.

Francisco Javier Borda, who is resident in the UK, was born in Pamplona, Spain and speaks English, French, German and Italian. He also has a working knowledge of Russian.
