In 2006, aged 12, Esther Yoo was awarded the First Prize at the 10th International Wieniawski Violin Competition for Young Violinists (junior section). That same year, she won the coveted European Union Award for Music Art for Youth. Other awards include First Prize at the New York Music Competition in 2000, Second Prize in the 2003 International Andrea Postacchini Violin Competition and First Prize at the 1999 New Jersey Music Competition.
Her future engagements in 2010 include performances in Korea, Holland and Belgium. Other upcoming orchestra engagements in 2010 include performances with the Korean Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra National de Lorraine, Kharkov Symphony Orchestra, Nouve Musiche Symphony Orchestra, Charlemagne Orchestra, the Minsk Youth Orchestra and Czech Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra (four concert tour).
She has also performed at various international festivals such as the Good Morning Concert Series in Palais des Beaux-Arts (Brussels, Belgium), Rising Stars Series at the Frankische Music Festival (Alzenau, Germany) with pianist Itamar Golan, Rising Star Series of Arpeggione Music Festival in Austria and the Kamermuziek Houtland Festival in Bruges.
Esther Yoo currently studies in Munich as the youngest student of Professor Ana Chumachenco. She continues to attend master classes with Professor Zakhar Bron. She is currently attending the International School of Brussels, where she has been on the Head’s List for exceptional academic grades. She received the school’s unique Special Achievement Award in 2009. Along with her violin playing and school, she enjoys dance lessons, reading and singing.
