Upcoming concertos include a tour with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and Riccardo Chailly, as soloist in Schumann’s Piano Concerto, and appearances with the Symphony Orchestra of WDR Cologne, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon, and the Zürcher Kammerorchester. He appears this season in recitals in Vienna, Paris, La Roque d’Anthéron, Verbier, Florence, Baden-Baden, Dortmund, Berlin, and Munich, among other cities.
This summer, Kit will receive the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival’s “Leonard Bernstein Award”. On that occasion, he will perform as soloist in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg under Manfred Honeck.
Kit’s piano repertoire includes the 48 Preludes and Fugues from the Well-Tempered Clavier by Bach, all Mozart Piano Sonatas, 15 Beethoven Piano Sonatas, as well as works by Haydn, Schubert, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, Debussy, Ravel, Bartok, and Ligeti. His concerto repertoire comprises works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, and Bartok.
As a composer, Kit has written in various styles. His compositions include numerous pieces for solo piano and for piano trio, quartet and quintet, as well as string quartets and wind quintets. He was awarded the Morton Gould Young Composer Award for five consecutive years. In 2007, Struwwelpeter, Character Pieces for Viola and Piano won the prestigious Charlotte V. Bergen Scholarship. At the age of seven, he composed a symphony, Celebration, which was performed by the Pacific Symphony Orchestra. He has been commissioned to write a concerto for clarinet and orchestra for the Verein Frankfurter Bachkonzerte to be performed by Paul Meyer and the Zürcher Kammerorchester, a string quartet for the Szymanowski Quartet at the Gewandhaus Leipzig, and an Overture for the symphony orchestra of the Musikkollegium Winterthur conducted by Douglas Boyd.
