Arabella Steinbacher records exclusively for PentaTone Classics, for whom releases include the Dvořák Violin Concerto and Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No. 1; and Bartók’s First and Second Violin Concertos. Among her numerous recording honours are two ECHO-Klassik Awards, Les Chocs du Mois from Le Monde de la Musique, and two German Record Critics Awards, as well as the prestigious Gramophone Editor’s Choice.

Highlights of recent seasons include performances with the Danish National Radio Symphony, Monte Carlo Philharmonic, Orchestre et Opéra National de Montpellier, Orchestre de Paris, San Francisco Symphony and the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as her Cleveland Orchestra début (2011/12); her Carnegie Hall début with the conductor-less Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and débuts with the Boston Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Maggio Musicale and Israel Philharmonic orchestras (2010/11); and her much-anticipated début at the BBC Proms with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and Jonathan Nott (2009/10).

Born in Munich in 1981, Arabella Steinbacher began studying the violin at the age of three and, at nine, became the youngest violin student of Ana Chumachenko at the Munich Academy of Music. She received further musical inspiration and guidance from Ivry Gitlis. In 2001, she won the sponsorship prize of the Free State of Bavaria and, that same year, was awarded a scholarship by the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation.

Ms Steinbacher currently plays the Booth Stradivarius (1716) generously provided by the Nippon Music Foundation. She lives in her hometown of Munich.
