Salonen nominates Olympic Torchbearer

Esa-Pekka Salonen nominates a music teacher as his 'Local Hero' to carry the Olympic Flame for Samsung.

Samsung, as an Official Worldwide Partner of the Olympic Games, is offering people in the community the chance to be one of 8,000 Torchbearers to carry the Olympic Flame. All you have to do is nominate a person who you think is a Local Hero and goes the extra mile. It could be a friend at school, your sports coach, in fact, anyone you know. Simply tell Samsung why they deserve the honour.

Samsung, a Philharmonia Orchestra supporter, asked our Principal Conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen to feature in its Olympic Torch Relay promotional video alongside David Beckham, Jamie Oliver, John Terry and Zara Phillips. Salonen chose to nominate Rachel Hunter, a London music teacher with whom the Orchestra works for 'working tirelessly to give young people opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have'.
