ADMINISTRATION VACANCIES
Orchestra Personnel Manager
We are seeking an outstanding individual for this key role within the Orchestra’s management team. The postholder will be responsible for the booking of all players across the full spectrum of the Orchestra’s activities (rehearsals, concerts in London and elsewhere in the UK, recording and film sessions, overseas tours), and for ensuring the smooth running of the schedule from day to day, including liaison with conductors and soloists.
The successful candidate will possess first-rate administrative and interpersonal skills and will be IT-literate and numerate. Ability to manage and prioritise a busy and varied workload, flexibility, and a willingness to work as part of a team are essential.

The Philharmonia Orchestra’s Arts Management Training Programme offers a unique opportunity to gain inside-track experience in this highly competitive field, within one of the world’s premier arts organisations. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about music and the performing arts, and committed to making a career in arts management and administration. We offer training placements in the following fields (please click on the relevant option for further details):
- Concert planning and administration
- Marketing, publicity and PR
- Sponsorship and fundraising
- Community & Education
- Digital projects (new media and website creation)
Placements are normally awarded on a 6-month basis, although we will consider shorter or longer periods according to individual circumstances. It may be possible to combine experience of more than one of the above areas within a single placement; we aim to be flexible in order best to meet the training needs of successful applicants.

Successful candidates will be encouraged to attend the Orchestra’s performances and to meet members and supporters of the Orchestra. Previous trainees have gone on to forge successful careers in leading artist management agencies, opera houses and orchestras (including the Philharmonia Orchestra itself). Placements are voluntary and unpaid, although travel expenses and a lunch allowance are available.
