Welcome to the Philharmonia Orchestra's Messiaen website. The site contains articles, unseen images, programme notes and films to go alongside the orchestra's series of concerts celebrating the Centenary of Olivier Messiaen's birth.

The music includes programme notes for each of the pieces performed by the Philharmonia, as well as short films on many of the pieces. In particular we've focused on Messiaen's Turangalîla-symphonie with Principal percussionist David Corkhill giving us a guided tour of the percussion section.

Perspectives includes Esa-Pekka Salonen on the music of Messiaen, Philharmonia Orchestra players discussing the music, and articles and films on the sound world of Messiaen with Peter Hill and Nigel Simeone.
