In opera, Sarah Connolly's recent appearances have included Purcell's Dido (Dido and Aeneas) at La Scala, Milan and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden; Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Metropolitan Opera, New York; Gluck's Orfeo (Orfeo ed Euridice) at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich; the title role in Giulio Cesare and Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde) at the Glyndebourne Festival; Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier) for Scottish Opera; Komponist for Welsh National Opera; the title role in Maria Stuarda and Romeo (I Capuleti e iMontecchi) for Opera North; and Nerone (L'incoronazione di Poppea) at the Maggio Musicale, Florence and the Gran Teatro del Liceu, Barcelona.
A favourite at English National Opera (ENO), her roles there have included Octavian; Handel's Agrippina, Xerxes, Ariodante and Ruggiero (Alcina); the title role in The Rape of Lucretia; Berlioz's Dido (Les Troyens); Romeo; and Sesto (La clemenza di Tito) - for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera.
Her future engagements include Sesto at the Aix-en- Provence Festival; Clairon (Capriccio) at the Metropolitan Opera, New York; and returns to the Paris Opera, Gran Teatro del Liceu, Glyndebourne Festival, ENO and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
Sarah Connolly has appeared in recital in London and New York, and her many concert engagements include appearances at the Aldeburgh, Edinburgh, Salzburg, Lucerne and Tangle wood festivals and at the BBC Proms with many of the world's great orchestras and conductors such as Bolton, Sir Colin Davis, Elder, Harding, Herreweghe, Jurowski, Nézet-Séguin and Rattle.
She has recorded prolifically and twice been nominated for a Grammy A ward. She was made CBE in the 2010 New Year's Honours List.
