Vaughan Williams with Leonard Hancock

In 2008 the Philharmonia Orchestra performed a series of concerts commemorating the 50th anniversary of Vaughan Williams' death.

Under artistic advisor Michael Kennedy and the late conductor Richard Hickox the series included choral works, opera and a complete symphony cycle.

Elgar 2007 was a major celebration to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great British composer Sir Edward Elgar, 1857-1934. Under artistic adviser Michael Kennedy and conducted by Sir Andrew Davis, Elgar 2007 featured 18 concerts in 13 venues across the UK.
