Community & Adults

Community projects are undertaken in residency areas, and have a broad reach across young and old, marginalised people, and community interest groups.

This activity often involves working outside formal educational settings, with non-concert goers, and in conjunction with specialist partners. Philharmonia musicians often work in contexts which are inter-generational and cross-cultural, exploring aspects of the orchestra’s work and using this as the starting point for creative exploration.

Pre-concert lectures, interviews, discussion and performances offer opportunities for concert-goers to deepen their understanding of specific repertoire/topics allied to key Philharmonia concert series’. Similarly Study Days enable adults to explore key musical topics under the guidance of leading experts, with live musical illustrations, and via participatory discussions.
