Community & Adults

Community work is undertaken in residency areas, and has a broad reach across young and old, marginalised people, and community interest groups.

Community projects often involve working outside formal educational settings, with non-concert goers, and in conjunction with specialist partners. Philharmonia musicians often work in contexts which are inter-generational and cross-cultural, exploring aspects of the orchestra’s work and using this as the starting point for creative exploration.

Pre-concert lectures, interviews, discussion and performances offer opportunities for concert-goers to deepen their understanding of specific repertoire/topics allied to key Philharmonia concert series’. Similarly Explore Days enable adults to explore key musical topics under the guidance of leading experts, with live musical illustrations, and via participatory discussions.
