Philharmonia Education: Hear and Now

Based in the Queen's Park neighbourhood of Bedford, Hear and Now is a community-based music project now in its fifth year. In July 2010, the Philharmonia Orchestra, in partnership and with the support of Orchestras Live, brought together Fusion Youth Singing and the Alzheimers Society's (Bedford branch) 'Music for Memory' group for a series of creative music workshops. Exploring improvisation and developing leadership skills, the groups collaborated to produce original compositions. The project culminated in a free, community concert at All Saints Church, Bedford. The concert also featured performances from Indian singer, Pooja, and the local Islamic choir, Huda. Find out more about the project at www.philharmonia.co.uk/hearandnow
