The Barcelona Auditorium is one of the large public projects conceived within the strategy of urbanistic reorganisation of Barcelona in the second half of the 1980s. Situated beside the Plaça de les Glòries, the Auditorium was born out of the desire to create a large cultural centre for the city, which would promote the project of a new urbanistic focal point to the north-east of the historic centre, at the point of articulation of the Eixample with Poblenou and the Vila Olímpica.
The Symphonic Hall, which is characterised by a regular geometry along the lines of the great classical concert halls with the finest acoustic conditions, has a capacity for 2,340 persons, with perfect visibility from all points of the hall.
