Since the residency started in 1995, the Orchestra has been involved in a number of wide-ranging activities both on and off the concert platform.

Concerts in Bedford feature many of the same projects which take place in London and internationally, including in 2014/15, conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy's Sibelius series, marking the 150th anniversary of the composer's birth, as well as the arrival of the Philharmonia's exciting new London series, Philharmonia At The Movies: Sci-Fi hosted by the legendary Barry Norman.

Aside from the concerts, the residency involves the Orchestra being a valued part of music making in the area. Our work with people of all ages and backgrounds through the advent of workshops and concerts for children is fundamental to the Orchestra's mission. Hear and Now provides a snapshot of the work that goes on in and around Bedford. Furthermore, we're delighted to share the news that ‘Hear and Now presents Nonsense Songs’, the project’s 2013 incarnation, has recently been announced the winner of the Music for Bedford Borough Hub's inaugural ‘Music Hub Gala Awards’ in the Community Hub Music Award category.
