Classical Inventors

Friday 6 Feb 2015, 7.30pm
Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury

Concert

Christian Kluxen conductor

Tine Thing Helseth trumpet

This concert features some of classical music's greatest inventors. Haydn wrote his trumpet concerto for the newly-created keyed trumpet which allowed him a previously unheard of melodic freedom. Likewise, Beethoven's Eroica Symphony does away with 18th-century sensibilities and instead brims with startlingly raw emotional content, huge, sudden dynamic changes, and demands fizzing virtuosity of its players at every turn.
