A new presentation of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan’s Samaagam produced especially for the London Mela and performed by composer’s two sons Amaan and Ayaan. Meaning confluence, or ‘coming together’ Samaagam is based on ragas which correspond to each of the year's four seasons and explores the common roots and shared musical traditions of India and the West. Alongside, Holst's St Paul's Suite was written as a thank you to St Paul's Girls' School (where the composer was Director of Music from 1905 to 1934) for building a soundproof studio for him. Dvořák's Serenade for Strings was written during an extremely productive time for the composer. A new father, who was now able to support his family from the income his commissions received as his reputation continued to grow, Dvořák penned his inspired, optimistic Serenade in less than two weeks.
