Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition (arr. Ravel)

Maestro Lorin Maazel, one of the world’s most highly regarded conductors, makes a special debut in Canterbury performing Strauss’s Till Eulenspiegel, which recounts the farce and folly of a German folklore hero, alongside Mussorgsky’s best-known work, Pictures At An Exhibition – a musical walk-round a gallery featuring paintings of a gnome with crooked legs, a medieval castle and the tale of the witch Baba-Yagá.

This concert is part of the Strauss 150th Anniversary 2014 series
