Carl Davis's epic score for the 1927 silent film of Napoléon (directed by Abel Gance) is not only the longest ever composed, but it is also widely celebrated as one of the finest. In this performance of the elaborately tinted and toned restoration by Photoplay Productions and BFI - complete with its dazzling triptych finale - music and film lovers are given a rare opportunity to experience one of the greatest achievements in cinema history, a seamless blend of traditional material and Davis's own unique creative genius.
