Andris Nelsons is a name to watch. Appointed Principal Conductor to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra last year at just thirty, Nelsons has garnered rave reviews. He makes his first Cardiff appearance with the Philharmonia in two great Rachmaninov works – the passion of the Second Piano Concerto (featured in the film Brief Encounter) and the scintillating energy and joie de vivre of the Symphonic Dances.
