Vilde Frang violin

Prokofiev and Rachmaninov were like chalk and cheese. Both were brilliant composer-pianists, but whereas Prokofiev was an iconoclast who delighted in railing at tradition, Rachmaninov inherited Tchaikovsky’s mantle without demur. They shared a genius for indelible melody, however; Prokofiev’s being typically cool and sleek while Rachmaninov preferred super-heated luxuriance.
