The first of a three concert cycle performed by the current sensation of the piano world, Lang Lang. Here, he performs the first and fourth concertos - both abrupt and full of flare. Preceding these, is Beethoven's rarely performed Zur Namensfeier (translated as 'Name Day'), which was written for King Francis I of France. Its main theme will sound relatively familiar as it is related to that which he used to set Ode to Joy in his Symphony No. 9. The orchestra is conducted by the orchestra's Principal Conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen.
