Often seen in the shadows of the Russian giants of the time, the music of Mieczyslaw Weinberg, a Polish-Jew who emigrated to Russia, is only now being recognised for his unique musical style. Here his works are paired alongside chamber pieces by his good friend Shostakovich and Prokofiev’s ‘Trapeze’ quintet written for a travelling troupe in Paris.
